- I feel my cat may have came in contact with a rabid animal, it is maybe six months behind on rabies shot, I plan to take him to my vet tomorrow, can they give kitty a booster shot?

Rabies laws vary state to state and you will need to talk to your veterinarian. The good news is that if your cat is a bit older and has been given multiple rabies vaccines, it is likely that it still has enough rabies antibodies to prevent a rabies infection. However, you will likely be advised to perform a home quarantine and monitor your pet for a certain amount of time just to be on the safe side. Again, since they vary state to state and I am not sure how likely it is that your cat came in contact with a rabid animal (ie was it bitten by an animal with a known status of rabies vs bitten by a wild animal and it is unknown if they have rabies, etc)
