Hi my dog developed jaundice last week. His skin is now yellow and he wouldn’t eat or drink. The vet done a abdominal scan and found no tumours but suggested letting him go or take him home and treat him. We took him home and he wouldn’t drink, eat or even go outside to wee. It’s been 6 days now and hes drinking on his own and going outside to wee but still not interested in eating. I have got him on milk thistle and vitamin B. Any ideas how i can get him to eat.

Without knowing the root cause of the illness, it is difficult to give advice that will be specific for your dog other than trying to feed things that are more palatable or easy on the digestive system like boiled chicken and rice.  It is very important to work with your veterinarian on finding the underlying cause or continuing the supportive care it sounds like your dog is getting with the Vitamin B treatments and milk thistle which is a liver protectant.

Jaundice is oftentimes a sign of liver disease but can also be a sign of other things, such as hemolytic anemia and you did not mention a blood test being run which can help signal if the problem really is the liver and is oftentimes done before an ultrasound which it sounds like you had.  The reason blood tests are run is that there is an enzyme that can signal there is anemia occurring and also signal to show if there is active damage caused to the liver.  This is the ALT enzyme which is released from liver cells when they die.  There are also liver function tests that can signal damage to the liver such as bile acid tests which can help verify the liver is functioning normally.

I would recommend reading this article to get a good overview:  https://www.vetbabble.com/dogs/health-dogs/liver-disease-in-dogs/

As the article mentions and as mentioned above, it is very important to work with your veterinarian on finding the cause which can oftentimes be treatment.
